CEM2021 is jointly organised by Malaysian Institute of Planners and Nextdor Property Communications to draw attention on the importance of good town planning in Malaysia.
This inaugural event pays tribute to Malaysia’s centennial milestone in town planning, with the appointment of Charles Compton Reade as the first Government Town Planner for the Federated Malay States in 1921.
It also looks at new technologies that are changing the way we live, work and play, as well as environmental issues resulting from urbanisation such as poor air and water quality, waste disposal problems and high energy consumption exacerbated by increasing population density. Strong city planning is essential in mitigating these difficulties.
CEM2021 aims at drawing attention to the importance of good town planning and its impact on urban development, the progress we have made through the years and the challenges confronting cities today.
